The value equation.
Value isn't just about getting the lowest possible price.
Getting frames that fall apart under normal use, or inferior lenses with coatings that peel and look 'smudgy' within 6 months is not great value, no matter how low the purchase price was. This actually ends up costing you more in the long run.

"the bitterness of low quality is remembered,
long after the sweetness of low price has been forgotten"
At Somer Toprak Optometrist, we believe in delivering consistent quality. Being independently owned means we focus on providing you the highest quality products for your money. We don't have the temptation to sell inferior products at high mark-ups to maximise profits like retail optical outlets do.
We use quality lenses engineered in Germany by Rodenstock to give you the best vision possible. They have superior optics and are guaranteed for 2 years against manufacturing defects, including anti-reflective and hard coatings. They are simply the best lenses that money can buy!
We select the best quality frames - they are made out of better materials, look better and feel better to wear. They are also more economical in the long run as they last longer.
We also believe in delivering value for money, and support a variety of price points to suit every budget. For the quality provided, our prices are more reasonable than you may think!
Additionally, if you choose from any of our frames and lenses, and when you purchase one complete pair you will receive 20% off a second complete pair*. This is perfect for those wanting a quality pair of sunglasses in addition to clear glasses, or plain reading glasses in addition to multifocals. We also have budget frame and lens packages from $99 complete.
Do you do "2-for-1" deals?
Short answer, no.
Long answer, we technically could, but we'd have to drastically lower our standards. Our reputation is built on quality rather than quantity. You get what you pay for.
"2-for-1" deals in the optical industry are a clever marketing technique to trick people into coming through the door. Sales techniques are then used to ensure you end up paying hundreds more than the advertised price as they tack on extra coatings and treatments. The appalling side to this practise is the retail chain will inflate their profit margins by cutting quality. Poor quality frames will corrode, wear quicker and have weaker hinges. Lenses will also have inferior optics, materials and coatings that degrade more quickly despite sometimes being marketed as "super tough" or "ultra clear". Ever see lenses advertised as being "made by Pentax"? Pentax makes cameras, not optical lenses (there is a big difference) - the brand name is only licensed and the optical lenses are produced in China by the lowest bidder.
It is not uncommon to walk in for a "2 pairs for $199 deal", then walk out having spent $600. You end up paying a high price for an unworthy product. And what if you want only 1 pair and not 2? The retail chain will never halve the price. This is a marketing tactic designed to make you spend on quantity, not quality. You are given no choice but to accept 2 pairs and pay the greater price.
The inferior frames and lenses incur more frequent breakages and degradation. This means you end up purchasing glasses every year rather than only when you need to.
Once you get past the illusion of savings, you are actually paying more for inferior quality. It actually costs you more to replace cheap frames and lenses more often, than to buy good quality frames and lenses in the first place.
"2-for-1" deals were never designed to be good value for the consumer.
