Frequently Asked Questions
I wish to switch to Somer Toprak Optometrist for my eye care needs.
Do you need my previous eye history to be sent to you as a report?
This can be helpful, but is not necessary as we perform complete and detailed eye examinations.
Legally, your full eye history should be made available to you upon request under freedom of information legislation. There should be no or very little cost to you in order to obtain this from your previous Optometrist (i.e. photocopying or printing costs are considered reasonable).
Do I require a referral from my doctor?
No. Optometrists are primary health care providers, and as such, Medicare claims can be claimed and bulk-billed without a referral. We are your first point of call for any eye problems such as blurry vision, ocular headaches, sore eyes and eye injuries. We also integrate and work with your local doctor to inform them of eye conditions which may be indicative of your general health issues.
